Coding in Paradise:
AMASS Update
On Coding in Paradise today, Brad has posted a new item in an effort to help clear up some of the misconceptions people are having about AMASS.

I want to clear up a few points about AMASS, the Ajax MAssive Storage System, that I've seen around the blogosphere:
  • AMASS can store much more than 100K, up to megabytes of information.
  • AMASS is not a security threat.
  • AMASS, by itself, does not make offline access possible.
  • AMASS is in alpha, so expect bugs :)
  • I need help on making AMASS work on Firefox for the Mac!
  • AMASS does not uses the Flash JavaScript Integration kit; I built an early prototype of AMASS using that framework
  • AMASS uses features that have been in Flash since the Flash Plugin Version 6; over 95% of the installed PC base on the Internet have the Flash features necessary to support AMASS

He gets into a bit more detail on each one of these, so if there's one that you don't quite understand, be sure to read up on it.

I was trying to use AMASS to store less than 100k of libraries on the user's system so they woulnd't have to keep downloading them.

I found the AMASS framework itself to be large enough to offset any benefit. Anyone know of any slimmed down version?
